Sculpting Dragons
Like any mythical creatures, dragons are magical. Their popularity today, is as strong as it ever was; these
creatures are so woven into the fabric of history and folk law of many countries that they almost exist
fact there are stories about dinosaur bones being mistaken for long dead dragons. So if you can make a
dragon realistic by giving it good anatomy and painstaking detail - it will become something more than
just a sculpture.
As a sculptor who strives for realism I wanted to believe in the dragons I was designing.
So I mixed huge amounts of reptilian evolution along side creativity.
The one thing I really wanted to achieve with these sculpts was a feeling of power, majesty, and the impact
that theses dragons would have if they rose up in front of you and began to beat their wings. Dragons are
mighty creatures and getting them off the ground is no mean feat. They had to appear incredibly strong and
look as if they were born and grew instead of carved from clay.
